Harriette Winslow

Harriette Winslow is Carl's wife, and Eddie, Laura, and Judy's mother. She is an intelligent, strong-willed woman who works at the Chicago Chronicle.

JoMarie Payton originated the role of Hariette Winslow on the sitcom "Perfect Strangers," from which "Family Matters" evolved. The series was a spin-off based around her character, a sharp-tongued, elevator operator and the wife and mother of the Winslow family. She played the part for eight and a half seasons on "Family Matters." Later, Payton was featured on several episodes of "Moesha" in the mid to late '90s and had a recurring role as Mrs. Freeman on "Will and Grace." From 2001-2005, she played Suga Mama on "The Proud Family" and reprised the role for the big screen. Payton's most recently appeared on the hit drama, "Desperate Housewives."
