Francis (Christopher Masterson) is the oldest of the brothers and is sent to military school after years as a troublemaker. Even more than his brothers, Francis blames his mom for most of his problems.

Christopher Masterson racked up numerous credits in film and television before landing the role of Francis on "Malcolm in the Middle." In 1992 Masterson made his feature debut playing a young Campbell Scott in the 1992 romantic comedy, "Singles". In 1993 he landed a guest role on "Murphy Brown." Masterson returned to the big screen in 1995 with a featured role in "Cutthroat Island," and in 1997 he had a supporting role in "My Best Friend's Wedding." The following year, he had memorable guest turns on the thriller series "The Pretender" and "Millennium." Shortly thereafter Masterson landed the role of Francis, the eldest son, on "Malcolm in the Middle."
