Fran Drescher (Fran Fine) was born and raised in Queens, New York. Her first feature film role was in Saturday Night Fever, and she went on to play memorable characters in many '80s movies. She received two Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations for her work on The Nanny, a show she also created, wrote, directed and executive produced. She starred in the series Living with Fran, and has guest-starred on many other shows, including Law & Order: Criminal Intent, The Simpsons, and Entourage. Fran wrote two New York Times best-selling books, Enter Whining and Cancer Schmancer. A uterine cancer survivor, she is the president of the Cancer Schmancer movement, dedicated to early cancer detection. In 2008, Fran was named a Public Diplomacy Envoy for Women's Health Issues by the US State Department. She works with organizations around the world to raise awareness of women's health issues.
