Charles Shaughnessy (Maxwell Sheffield) was born into a show-business family in London, England, and studied law at Cambridge before deciding to pursue an acting career. He played Shane Donovan on the daytime series Days of Our Lives for seven years, winning three Soap Opera Digest Awards. In addition to his work on The Nanny, he played Ted Reeves on Living with Fran, August Martin on Saints & Sinners, and Saint John Powell on Mad Men. Charles has guest-starred on a long list of shows, including Hannah Montana, The Mentalist, Veronica Mars, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. His many voiceover credits include Squirrel Boy and The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. Charles and his wife live in Santa Monica with their two children.
